Economic Impact Analysis of Reduced Irrigated Acreage in Four River Basins in Colorado

چکیده

Overview Water is an important natural resource that contributes to the Colorado’s economic, cultural and social well-being. But, as recent events have shown, our limited water supply has many competing uses and is undergoing many rapid changes. Water rights are being voluntarily transferred from irrigated agriculture to municipal use, groundwater supplies are diminishing and wells without sufficient augmentation are being retired. Ultimately, this means fewer irrigated acres, and the economic impacts of this reduced activity are a key concern for rural communities (Pritchett, 2007).

Understanding Controls on Historical River Discharge in the World’s Largest Drainage Basins

Long-term (20 yr) river discharge records from 30 of the world’s largest river basins have been used to characterize surface hydrologic flows in relation to net precipitation inputs, ocean climate teleconnections, and human land/water use patterns. This groundwork study is presented as a precedent to distributed simulation modeling of surface hydrologic flows in large river basins. Correlation ...

Case study Malaysia: Spatial water quality assessment of Juru, Kuantan and Johor River Basins using environmetric techniques

This study investigates spatial water quality assessment of selected river basins in the three different states in Malaysia. Environmetric techniques namely, cluster analysis (CA), principal component analysis (PCA), and discriminant analysis (DA), were applied to study the spatial variations of the most significant water quality variables in order to determine the origin of pollution sources ...

Evaluation the Efficiency of MUSLE Model in Sediment Load Estimation Resulting from Individual Rain Events in Doviraj River Sub-Basins, Ilam Province

Most of our country is located in arid and semiarid climate which have high soil erosion and sediment production, therefore, the study of soil erosion and sediment yield and also evaluation of the effective factors on sediment production are very important in proper management of a watershed. The aim of present study is the efficiency evaluation of MUSLE model in sediment estimation in the stor...

The Impact of Agricultural Water Conservation Policy on Economic Growth

An agricultural water conservation policy prevalent worldwide encourages producers to improve on-farm irrigation efficiency. Contrary to intention, increasing empirical evidence reveals that this policy may set an ‘irrigation efficiency trap’ that worsens water crises by reducing water supplies and jeopardizing economic growth. We derive a pair of testable hydrologic-economic conditions require...
